2025 Annual Mtg & Dinner Dance- Maryland Club
Saturday March 16th
After a brief meeting of the membership where the next twelve-month slate of officers and managers was approved, members flocked to the cocktail lounge at the Maryland Club preceded by spouses, significant others, the Grey Goose and the Famous Grouse.
A crowd of around sixty enjoyed fellowship enhanced by hors d’oeuvres and good spirits for the next hour and a half. Special guest Charlie Scammell, General Society VP for our region, and his wife drove down from New Jersey to attend. At 7:25 p.m. Jim Rogers, drummer of the Maryland forces of Ft. Frederick, played Mess signaling guests to find their dinner tables. Then, he and Dave Embrey, a fifer with the SAR Color Guard, led the SRMD Color Guard (Captain Scott Watkins, Assistant Captain Hardy Smith, and Rob Patterson) who carried the colors into the dining/dancing room to the strains of The World Turned Upside Down. The band, the Craig Satchell Swing and Jazz Ensemble, then played the National Anthem upon posting of the colors. The Fife & Drum then led the Color Guard out of the room to Yankee Doodle.
